Loft Conversion – Carlyon Bay

Project Brief – Loft Conversion & Modernisation | Size – 245m2 | Approximate Cost – £300k (2016) |
Services Provided – Design, Planning, Building Regulations

This was an exciting project for us here at A & K Architectural Services. We were instructed to develop the 1970’s bungalow into a modern dwelling that capitalised on the stunning views the site has to offer.

During the design process we drafted a number of concepts, working closely with the client to ensure not just the external appearance was what they were looking for and that the internal layout worked for their style of living.

Whilst considering the development it quickly came apparent that the dwelling should be reverse plan and the amount of glazing maximised to the principle elevation. This ensued the the spectacular coastal views are put to best use.

In terms of layout the clients were looking for an open plan style of living. In light of this the loft floor is a large single room with WC to one end. The front facing sliding doors open up onto a counter levered balcony whilst rear double doors open onto a rear terrace with external stairs linking the living space to to secluded garden.

The ground floor has been reconfigured, encompassing four double bedrooms, two of which have en suite shower rooms, plus two additional bathrooms.

As you can see, a fantastic transformation.
