Project Brief – Extension | Size – 72m2 (Loft) | Approximate Cost – £70k (2015) |
Services Provided – Design, Planning, Building Regulations
This client, who wished to extend their loft conversion initiated contact with us following direction from a contractor we have previously worked with.
The clients lived in a 5 bedroom bungalow with previous loft conversion that was inefficiently designed with the staircase consuming much of the usable loft space. Due to their expanding family the clients wanted to add a sixth bedroom through the extension of their loft.
To achieve the clients aspirations we recommended that the existing stairs were relocated and a part of the roof structure was replaced to provide the further space required.
The existing flat roof dormers were replaced with a more attractive pitched roof design and master bedroom provided with an impressive Juliet balcony within a further pitched roof dormer.
Due to the increase in height of the roof, a householder planning application was submitted and consent given by the local planning authority.
We then provided all of the building regulations required including a structural specification to enable the contractor to construct the proposal.
We feel the completed works create a modern and coherent built form that has met all of the clients aspirations.
