Andy has worked in the construction industry in senior roles for more than 30 years and has over 40 years’ experience in planning, engineering (mechanical, electrical, heating and plumbing) and construction, both as a designer and contractor.

Over his career, he has been recognised for his knowledge and holds memberships with the IET (Institute of Engineering & Technology), CHIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineers), CMILT (Chartered Member of the Institute of Logistics & Transport) and is SMSTS qualified (Site Management Safety Training Scheme), enabling him to act as a Principal Designer under the CDM Regulations 2015.

He founded A & K Architectural Services in 2005 to support his loft conversion company (at the time), enabling him to offer a ‘turnkey’ design and build service. He has a thorough knowledge of the building regulation standards and the necessary legislation as they apply to residential and commercial buildings alike.

Andy’s simplistic approach and technical expertise has ensured the successful development of hundreds of properties, ensuring budgets are managed and contractors kept on point. Notably, an NHBC appointed specialist remarks to Andy’s expertise; ‘we are not used to having a client who understands the building and the construction process as well as you do’. In his free time Andy likes to restore and ride vintage bikes and travel whenever time will allow.

Rob Gould | DirectorBA (Hons) PGCE MCIAT AssocRICS

Rob (the son of Andy) has been involved in the construction industry from a very young age. Growing up around a family-owned design and construction business has exposed him to a vast array of projects, providing a strong, practical knowledge of the many disciplines involved in industry.

He has a strong creative flair as well as an ability to convey principles and reflective ideas to a high level.

He holds a BA(Hons) degree & PGCE (masters in teaching) in further education. In September 2017 he was recognised as a Charted Architectural Technologist through the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technology (MCIAT).

Rob was appointed director of A & K Architectural Service in 2014 and now takes a prominent role in managing the business; seeing it grow from a single member to a team of five.

He has a detailed working knowledge of the planning system and building regulation compliance, regularly attending CPD seminars and workshops to ensure the expertise passed across to clients is as up to date as possible.

In his free time Rob enjoys performing both as a solo pianist and in various bands across the county.  He is also a keen motorcyclist and loves to travel the world.

Daniel Miller | Technician BA (Hons) Interior Design

Daniel joined our team in June 2016 after graduating from Southampton Solent University, with a degree in Interior Design.

His original role as a draftsman involved the general drawing of projects at feasibility and planning stages, but now he is working to become a specialist in building regulation drawings and documentation.

His knowledge of the building regulations is quickly growing and he is in training to achieve Architectural Technician status.

In his free time Daniel also has a strong love for all things automotive and when he is not in the office he likes nothing more than to be tinkering with his car.

Naomi Billing | Technician BA(Hons) in Architecture

Naomi joined our team in June 2019, she graduated in 2015 with a BA(Hons) in Architecture validated by the Royal Institute of British Architects from Oxford Brookes University. Previously Naomi worked as a designer in the education industry before transferring her creative and CAD knowledge to A & K in early 2019.

Since starting at A & K, Naomi has been developing her knowledge in both planning and building regulation compliance.

Naomi continues her creative flair at home by practicing calligraphy and custom Cornish  illustrations partaking in seasonal fairs around the county.

Rachel James | Accounts ManagerBSc (Hons)

Rachel joined our team in January 2017 and manages our accounts here at A & K Architectural Services.

Working for us part time, she takes care of all things administrative and financial in the company.
