Here is a development we are truly proud of.
As seen in George Clarke’s Remarkable Renovations this 19th Century bank originally designed by Savinus Trevail has now been repurposed as Richard and Sarah’s beautiful family home.
We were approached by the owners after they purchased the property and tasked to undertake all design work to convert the bank into a dwelling, with an initial budget of £100k.
The bank holds a grade II listing with Historic England and as such required a listed building consent application as well as a full planning application for the change of use to a dwellinghouse.
After finalising a cost-sensitive design with the owners we then prepared all planning documentation including a heritage assessment and submitted these to the local authority planning department.
On receipt of the planning application, the historic environment planning team commented that:
“This is a well-informed scheme, which proposes sensitive alterations to adaptively reuse this former bank building as a residential dwelling. The works should be carried out in line with the descriptions set out in the ‘Design, Access, Heritage & Applicants Statement”
We have submitted many applications of this nature with these comments reinforcing our expertise with listed buildings.
Following the planning approval, production of construction documentation and commencement of works George Clarke was introduced to the project which resulted in the modification of the scheme to include the vaulting of the bedroom ceiling. It was around this time that the owners were set on further investment into the property.
To legally achieve these modifications we submitted a revised listed building consent and provided the technical details required to facilitate the construction.
The result of this conversion is an amazing family dwelling that we wish Richard, Sarah and family every happiness in.
