Our client approached us with the vision of building a large, bespoke home in Truro, providing detailed initial sketches as the foundation for the design. Working closely with the client, we developed these ideas into a 350m², four-bedroom dwelling complete with an integral garage.
A key aspect of the project was ensuring that the new home harmonised with the local architectural style while fulfilling the client’s aspirations. To achieve this, we incorporated a double-pitched roof, traditional hanging slate, and brick quoining into the design—elements that respected the surrounding built environment while giving the home a distinctive character.
Once the client approved the design, A & K handled the full planning application process, ensuring everything was submitted and managed efficiently. Planning consent was granted without delay, allowing us to proceed with the next stage of the project.
We then prepared a comprehensive building regulation specification, detailing every element required for construction. The dwelling featured structural waterproofing and was built using a highly insulated timber frame. To maximize energy efficiency and comfort, the home was equipped with an air source heat pump, underfloor heating and solar PV, resulting in an impressive EPC score of 95 (A rating).
